Educational Facilities

• Schools

Providing education to all children at the primary and secondary levels, schools inevitably face the problem of infectious diseases, and have adopted prevention programs to limit and prevent their spread in the school environment. This is especially important because there are so many children in schools, and infectious disease agents are easily passed between children via saliva, food, secretions, stool and toys.

• Daycares

Managing germs in the daycare setting is no small feat, as the little tots crawl around on the floor, unable to wipe their snotty noses, and paw at each other’s snacks. As we now know, many diseases are communicable before any symptoms show, so the tendency has shifted from removing sick children from daycare to focusing on prevention and teacher training—in particular, posters on hand washing.
